A Tale Of Two Projects: Going Green

From green Government initiatives to documentaries like Blue Planet, the world around us is keen to prevent ongoing climate change damage from impacting our communities...

Abandoned Building Gets New Lease Of Life With EP90

As new homes are urgently needed all over the country, the redevelopment of existing buildings can offer a solution – but in urban areas, noise pollution can often be a problem. As one developer discovered, however, Liniar’s EnergyPlus90 windows can provide the ideal answer!

An alternative approach to social housing

The Leeds City Centre regeneration PFI project spans 7 blocks of high-rise apartments totalling 550 dwellings, together with almost 1,500 low-rise and new build houses - all fitted with Liniar windows. “The Liniar system goes through the factory much faster than other systems, so it’s more cost effective - it's also much easier to achieve an ‘A’ rated window. Our installers find Liniar is quicker to fit, so they’re on site for less time overall, which helps with project completion deadlines.” Click to read the full case study and find out more about the project.

Burglars fail to beat Liniar ModLok™ patio doors

Patio doors are often considered the weakest point of access, but a West Yorkshire fabricator’s faith in the security benefits of the Liniar ModLok™ system have been strengthened even further recently after a failed attempt by burglars to force a set open.

Conversion of commercial building into housing

Read how one Liniar fabricator recently won a contract to provide and install the windows for the conversion of a commercial building into housing. The developers had specified anthracite grey on white windows, top hung with toughened glass manufactured with Liniar’s EnergyPlus profile. They used pressed and vinyl coloured panels for a contemporary finish.

Excellence through the supply chain

The Liniar team was introduced to Glen Speake during one of his very first Alumina installation projects – a new build home which included foiled PVCu 7016 Grey Liniar casement windows and matching aluminium bi-folding doors.

First Past The Post

One of the early adopters of the Liniar system, Pearl Windows has always been on the front foot for fabricating the new products emerging from Liniar’s Design and Development department.

Going Green – Thinking Outside The (Composting) Box

Our world is changing. We’re now seeing a passion for ‘doing our part’ to save the environment like we’ve never seen before – and one group in Southampton is going above and beyond for their little patch of Earth.

Hitting new heights with Liniar

When James Stuart, Technical Director for Abbey Windows (Thames Valley) Ltd, received the tender for a multi-storey student accommodation building in Leicester he knew Liniar windows would be the ideal solution for the seven-storey building – even in the face of challenges like wind load and vast expanses of glass at height.

Liniar EnergyPlus90 EP90, Passive house, Passivhaus system, 90mm system, acoustic window system, 48mm triple glazed, 56mm triple glazed

Liniar’s EnergyPlus 90, a 9-chamber profile that complies with the exacting Passive House standards, even with laminate, has been designed to provide superior acoustic values as well as outstanding thermal and security specifications. Because of the rise in the amount of new housing projects on repurposed land, frequently located close to noisy transport networks, architects are increasingly specifying more stringent acoustic requirements, as well energy efficiency and high security.

Liniar Helps Generate Energy For Eco-House Project

Self-builders Jo and Andy Thompson used Liniar windows and doors in order to create an 'energy positive' building. Liniar's multi-chambered profile helped achieve U-values below 1.0W/m2K and the couple are delighted with the results. The project was featured on the BBC2 show 'The House that £100k Built' in 2015. Liniar log pile for garden retention rescue project

One construction firm has described Liniar plastic log piling as a ‘godsend’ on a recent project. When a timber retaining structure was in danger of failing, Redrow Homes was called in to the estate in Pontllanfraith. They called in a sub-contractor to correct the issue and specified Liniar log piling as the ideal product to replace the existing wooden support. Click to read the full case study here

Liniar log pile helps charity to keep giving back

One of Birmingham’s oldest charities, the Birmingham Boys and Girls Union was established in 1906. 60 years ago, the charity moved to its current location, an extensive outdoor learning centre – the Woodlands Adventure.

Liniar's EnergyPlus 90mm window system

When a fabricator was tasked with supplying the windows for a new build property that would provide outstanding thermal efficiency, noise reduction and security, without compromising on style, they seized the opportunity to put Liniar’s new 90mm system to the test.

School project proves to be a real education

The challenge of transforming a 100-year-old school building in to upmarket residential homes is no mean feat – but that is exactly the task that one building firm has undertaken and the outstanding results puts them top of the class. Using a range of Liniar products, including windows, doors, roofline and a lantern roof the results are fantastic. The old Shirland Primary School, near Higham in Derbyshire, became available to buy after the school was relocated to a new building in 2011 and Linden Design & Build Ltd purchased it, with planning permission, in June 2014.

Shedding Light On A Home In The Derbyshire Dales

Recently, a long-time Liniar customer was scrolling through Facebook and came across an image of the new Elevate lantern roof. As an owner of two of the original PVCu Liniar lantern roofs, once he saw Elevate, he knew this would be the perfect replacement for his ageing, existing lanterns.

Windows, Doors and Monkey Habitats

It all began with a double glazing business and an unusual request from a homeowner in 2011 for a ‘cat lock’. Formerly the owners of a successful double glazing business in Ipswich, Steve Vince and Peter Garlick had no idea then that they would go from a building a cat lock to the becoming the leading supplier of bespoke PVCu animal housing to animal welfare organisations across the UK.
