Bath University

AAS supplied a unique design of Oak veneered absorbent rafts in the open areas of the new East South building at Bath University. The slotted rafts were hung on wire fixings and created a suspended ceiling effect whilst reducing the reverberation time. Working with the main contractor Bouygues and the architect’s Fielden Clegg Bradley to design this innovative solution to reducing the reverberation time in the large open areas and corridors incorporating all the lighting into the rafts.

Ibstock Place School

AAS Projects & Design were appointed by Feltham Construction to design, survey and install all the acoustic timber panelling and solid timber panelling to the internal ceilings, walls and external colonnade. Digital surveying was carried out by AAS within the two main halls, ensuring millimetre precision as each and every diamond aperture required measuring. The jewel in the crown are the two striking vaulted ceilings, both lined with diamond shaped acoustic solid oak slatted panels. Each diamond shaped panel fitted between the glulam beam roof structure. Further timber slatted panelling was installed to the new sixth form centre ceiling and walls.

Newcastle Helix - The Catalyst

Located in the heart of Newcastle Helix, the Catalyst will be home to the National Innovation Centre for Data and Ageing (NICAD). Offering a design, supply and install service, AAS Projects & Design Ltd are proud to have provided bespoke acoustic timber ceilings and innovative acoustic wall panelling across many areas of the building. A particular highlight is the feature wall in the lecture theatre which is finished with distinctive diamond shaped timber panels that complement the design of the building perfectly.

Project Angel - Northampton Civic Centre

A £400k installation for Galliford try designed by Architects BDP for Northampton county council’s new civic offices. A combination of oak slatted panels balustrades, ceilings and fabric wrapped absorption panels were used to reduce the reverberation time in the atrium and open areas. In addition, an oak feature wall was created in the entrance hall complete with integral lighting and a commemorative stone. A truly stunning visual effect and a successful acoustic performance was achieved.

Promega HQ, Southampton Science Park

AAS Projects & Design were appointed by Amiri Construction to design, survey and install the acoustic timber panelling to the ceilings and walls and beneath the reception roof lantern. We also provided the stretched fabric feature walls. For the acoustic slatted ceiling and walls we installed solid steamed beech timber slats with a Camira fabric backing.

University of Hull Sports Centre

AAS Ltd were employed by Kingston Joinery Contractors to supply 1300 sq/m of White Beech Plywood Panelling to the Main Sports Hall. The panelling design comprised of solid panels together with slotted/drilled panels. The perforated panelling is designed to provide sound absorption to the sports hall and also to provide an aesthetic back drop. In certain areas, perforated panels are not used in the traditional sense of providing sound absorption, but, kept open to allow light through into the sports hall from the glass façade behind.
