Architectural Street Furnishings are specialists in the design, manufacture and supply of high quality street furniture and architectural metalwork. Working in recycled cast and ductile iron, high grade SG iron, steel, stainless steel, recycled plastic, aluminium, corten steel, granite and timber ASF have a broad range of abilities and in-house skill sets. With manufacturing services that include pattern making and casting, fabrication and welding, laser and water jet profiling as well broad bases as varied as CNC precision engineering and hand crafting - ASF products subtly align traditional skills with the latest of modern technology. ASF products can be finished any way a customer needs. Wet painting and polyester / nylon powder coating, arc metal spraying, hand and machine polishing of stainless steel, aluminium and granite products as well as specialist treatments designed to offer very long term protection or indeed, promote the natural ageing and patina of a material are all available. Our cast iron products are all manufactured on site in our own foundry, but more excitingly, all our castings are manufactured using recycled car brake discs. We buy these in from local scrap merchants and recycle them onsite to make brand new street furniture and cast iron architectural products. The whole scrap to finished product process is done in a distance of about 50m. Our cast iron is not only 100% recycled, but also 100% recyclable. Iron loses absolutely no quality or volume in the recycling process so the recycling lifespan of iron is endless, it can go on almost forever being made into different products time after time after time. Add to that the resistance to corrosion that is a natural characteristic of iron and you have a product that not only spurred on the industrial revolution and the early great engineering projects, but also stacks up as a very environmentally sustainable material in a very modern sense of the word. Iron will typically lose just a few microns in 100 years even if left unprotected by paint. It gets even better, iron production and indeed it's very slow oxidisation, gives off iron ashes which are carbon based and good for the environment. They promote green growth on plants and increase planktonic life in the oceans, thus combating global warming. Recent studies have shown that adding iron dust to the oceans could have a dramatic positive effect on their health, increasing the oxygen output of our seas and oceans and reducing greenhouse gasses. Conceivably, a 100% recycled ASF cast iron tree grille will actually feed the tree that it is placed around for protection... albeit very slowly! Although not always realised, this news is not new, writer and author John Ruskin wrote at the end of the 19th Century of cast iron, "It breathes air, burns itself up in oxygen and so gives up its own life so that we may live ours."

In recent years ASF have really started to specialise in post and rail, post and panel, handrailing, balustrade fencing and perimeters in metals and glass of all kinds. Our manufacturing foundry base obviously started this with cast iron where our in house pattern shop allows us to make posts to suit whatever size and shape of environment they are needed for; gradients, curves and corners, steps, ramps and spirals, jumping between rail counts and panel styles, adding gates and other features has always been standard practice for ASF, but as we stepped out into different materials we applied the same flexibility for ASF perimeter systems in all other metals; steel and stainless steel, aluminium, bronzes and gun metals, and glass. ASF offer a complete service from design and development to supply, we can include structural calculations and advise on suitable product specifications taking loading and building regulations into consideration.

The LED revolution! As we have completed ever increasing ranges of products we have, as a natural progression, incorporated LED lighting for both decorative and task lighting purposes, and can assist in specifying relevant lighting plans to achieve this. These LED lighting elements are always popular on bollards and balustrades, where we offer a wide range of lighting options to light walkways, ramps, stairways, bridges and more, we also offer standalone lighting solutions and can manufacture completely bespoke lighting elements for any architectural installation.

Our bollard choices are huge, with over 100 bollard designs on our website from our standard ranges alone, these are in recycled cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and granite and include illuminated and non illuminated bollards... but this doesn't even scratch the surface, our bespoke manufacturing capability in all materials means that in most cases we are manufacturing bollards that are either partially or completely bespoke. We have designs and patterns left over from all these, some dating back many years to the dawn of street furniture design so if it's not on our website just ask, because the chances are we do have that and if not, we can make it.

Our tree protection ranges are simply astounding, we have a staggering 960 permutations for combining tree grilles and tree guards, and that doesn't include the fact that we can, and do, complete 100% bespoke grilles and guards for specific needs. A huge part pf our tree protection range is our choice of 38, 100% recycled cast iron tree grilles which combine most, if not all of the 'classic' tree grille designs with a number of more artistic and modern cast tree grille options.

Recent years have seen huge upturns in the number of people cycling for both pleasure and commuting purposes, driving the need for secure cycle parking. ASF have a broad range of cycle hoops and stands, and again, the ability to manufacture these to any bespoke design required. We also work to secure by design standards for gates and caging when an even greater level of security is desired. ASF have a range of cycle shelters that are manufactured to meet the needs of any particular location, and can house any of our cycle hoops and racks, vertical, semi vertical and two tier cycle storage solutions.
