IAE’s Sports Spectator Rail is a tubular handrail and welded mesh panel system designed to provide a clear demarcation between sports play and viewing areas, giving a safer experience for both players and spectators. 

The Spectator Rail system can be used to provide a perimeter to the play area, or to build an enclosure for spectators.

The system is manufactured from carbon steel galvanized to BS EN 1461 standards. An optional polymer powder coating finish can be applied with a choice of colours available.

The handrail is 1150 mm high above ground level, with the welded mesh panel coming up to 1000 mm. The tubular handrail is made from 48.3 mm diameter circular hollow section tube. The handrail is supported between 60x60 square hollow section posts, mounted on 38.1 mm diameter spigots. A fitting is then used to stop the tube rotation around the spigot.

Posts are installed at 2525 mm centres as standard, however panels can be cut back and posts installed closer together as required to adapt to a given venue.

The welded mesh panels are IAE specification Duex 868 or Duex 868 Rebound panels. These panels are twin 8 mm diameter horizontal wires welded to vertical 6 mm panels.

Spacing of the vertical wires on the rebound panels is reduced to form a stronger and more durable panel designed to take repeated impacts from balls. 

For spectator safety, the panels are capped off at the top with a plastic capping strip.

The panels are fitted to the posts using a 40x6 flat clamp bar secured with M8 security screws.

Gates:

Matching gates are available for IAE’s Sports Spectator Rail.

1200 mm wide single leaf gates are available for personnel access points, and 3000 mm wide double leaf gates are available for vehicle and maintenance access.

Bespoke gates can also be designed and manufactured to order.
