Application

The system is for installation above damp proof course level on external sheathed light gauge steel frame supporting walls.

Suitable for a range of projects including residential buildings, schools, student accommodation, remediation, and high raise projects, in existing and new buildings.

Licatatherm steel frames Render System has been designed for steel frame substrates on a sheathing board. The system consists of mineral wool insulation boards which are adhesively and mechanically fixed through the basecoat and reinforcement mesh to the supporting wall. A secondary layer of basecoat is applied followed by a primer before the application of the silicone render finish. Featuring great durability, water repellent surface and protection against algae and mould. With increased strength and crack resistance, due to the glass fibre mesh. The system fire classification is A2-s1, d0 in accordance with BS EN 13501-1, and tested 120’ fire resistance both directions in accordance with BS EN 1363-1 & BS EN 1364-1, With over 700 colours available, you can pick the perfect coloured render for your project.

Description

LicataTherm External wall insulation system for light steel frame substrates onto 12mm A1 sheathing board, incorporating an A1 non-combustible mineral wool insulation board, this system achieves a system fire classification of A2-s1, d0 to BS EN 13501-1, allowing it to be used on a building of any height.

Engineered to excel in the UK climate, it has a silicone render finish coat. The thermal benefits come from the mix of components of the system. The direct fix application allows the system to be directly mechanically fixed and with adhesive, removing the need for a cavity and the cavity fire-stopping behind the insulation.

Features and benefits:

  • Direct fix.
  • Breathable.
  • Reduced drying time.
  • Fire classification: A2-s1, d0 to EN 13501-1.
  • Design life: 30 years.

Preparation

Approved proprietary biocidal wash. Surfaces must be sound, free from loose material and clean.

Guidance for specification option:

Where an adhesive system is used, the surfaces must be sound, free from loose material and clean. Where additional mechanical fixings are to be used, the substrate must be capable of sustaining the design loads.

Existing substrates that show visible signs of algae and mold will require treating with an approved proprietary biocidal wash prior to any render works.

Manufacturer guidance

Designed and tested to meet the current wind load and suction requirements, the system is adhesively fixed with supplementary fixings in accordance with BS EN 1991-1-4:2005. Special consideration should be given to locations with high wind-load pressure coefficients, as additional fixings may be necessary. It is recommended that a load factor of 1.5 is used to determine the ultimate wind load, in accordance with BS EN 1990:2002.
