Hygienic Hand Dryers

Hygienic hand dryers are those which incorporate either HEPA filters or UVC sterilisers or another feature that improves the air quality either within the hand dryer and even within the room in which it is situated.

Low Energy Hand Dryers

Hand dryers whose power consumption is no more than 1600W. Hand dryers have a Green Rating which gives a measure of how environmentally friendly they are per use, taking in factors such as carbon consumption in manufacturing and shipping until end-of-life including recyclability.

Ultra-Low Energy Hand Dryer

Based of the American ADA compliance stipulations, for a hand dryer to be DDA compliant, it should protrude from the wall no more than 100mm

PVD Coloured Hand Dryers

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is biggest emerging trend of the last 12 months has been the move to gold and brass coloured hand dryers. The PVD system of Titanium Ion Plating the bare steel so it still retains its texture and improves it wear resistance has been game-changing. 

PVD deposits a layer of colour electrostatically on the metal surface presenting a lush hue in a vandal resistant finish, much more robust than electroplating, lacquer, enamel or powder coating.

Sterilising Hand Dryers

Many hand dryers have used UVC lamps to sterilise the air for some years, the first being the Fumagalli MG88A UVC. Since then there have been some notable additions including the Aertek SL03, Aertek VTX, Airdri Puredri, Velair Pebble+ and Sterillo.

The UVC light interacts with the virus envelope or bacteria cell wall disrupting it and breaking it down. In some hand dryers the UVC light also interacts with Titanium plates to create Titanium Dioxide, superoxide ions and plasma. The effect of this to sterilise not just the air passing through the hand dryer but also the air and surfaces within the room.

HEPA Filtered Hand Dryers

Much has been made over the years on the hygiene of hand dryers. Many reports take of hand dryers "spewing out" bacteria laden air. Hand dryers blow the air in the washrooms onto your hands, which means it is the very same air you are breathing - which cant be that bad for you (usually!).

With HEPA filtered hand dryers, the air you are drying your hands with is actually cleaner than the air you are breathing.

The hospital-grade HEPA-13 filters actually remove bacteria and viruses meaning they are the most hygienic hand drying experience.
