High performance permeable bedding mortar to BS 7533-101:2021, Table 9, Type 35 and BS 7533-103, clause 6.9.3
Application
Suitable for use as a fully permeable bedding mortar course in bound construction SuDS pavements and permeable surfaces when used in combination with tuffflow fully permeable SuDS jointing mortar. Always include the use of Steintec tuffbond priming/bonding mortar to achieve the 2MPa adhesion between the paving units and the bedding mortar laying course as described in BS 7533-101.
Description
A fully permeable, high performance bedding mortar, formulated for use as the bedding (laying course) for bound construction (rigid) SuDS permeable pavements and permeable surfaces composed of natural stone or concrete paving elements.
Features and benefits:
- Performance exceeds requirements of BS 7533-101:2021 Type 35 mortar and BS 7533-103:2026.
- Fully water permeable and frost resistant, with high permeability characteristics allowing the design and construction of bound (rigid) permeable (SuDS) pavements when used in combination with tufflow SuDS permeable jointing mortar.
- The minimum bedding depth advised for SuDS permeable pavement construction is 50 mm, with no upper limit on depth due to its ability to achieve performance without compaction.
- Achieves or exceeds a horizontal permeability of 4.0 x 10-4 m/s and vertical permeability of 5.5 x 10-4 m/s when tested in accordance with BS 7533-101 Annex C.
- Low-carbon manufacturing profile and completely free from polymer and resin additives.
This two-part product requires no pre-drying or pre-blending of the aggregate content. The binder is packaged separately avoiding the need for energy intensive central processing. This reduces overall energy use and haulage and facilitates a reduction in cementitious binder content.
