High Performance, Water-Mix Smoothing Compound
Pour the mixed material onto the prepared substrate and allow to flow and attain a smooth finish. Minimal work with a smoothing trowel is required. A spiked roller should be used to eliminate entrapped air and smooth out flow lines to give a more uniform surface appearance. The mixed material should be applied at a thickness between 2mm to 10mm unfilled or up to 30mm filled, but can be taken down to a feather edge if required. For optimum smoothing characteristics, an overall thickness of at least 3mm should be maintained.
STOPGAP 1500 is self-smoothing, but should any imperfections remain they can be removed by rubbing with a carborundum stone when the compound will accept foot traffic – typically 60 minutes after application at 20°C. This time will be extended with reduced temperature i.e. approximately 2 hours at 10°C.
STOPGAP 1500 can be pump applied, please contact our Technical Service Department for details.
STOPGAP 1500 is a fast setting, fast drying, water-mix smoothing compound suitable for preparing sound internal subfloors prior to the installation of new floorcoverings.
STOPGAP 1500 can be applied directly over old adhesive residues such as bitumen and carpet tile tackifiers without the need for priming. STOPGAP 1500 can be used for patch filling timber floors prior to overlaying with plywood. It is suitable for use in clinical and biologically sensitive areas such as hospitals, laboratories, clean rooms etc.
STOPGAP 1500 is moisture tolerant which makes it suitable for application over damp, clean, uneven concrete and sand/cement screeds, prior to the application of STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes or STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE.
STOPGAP 1500 can also be applied over other subfloor types including STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, sand/cement screed, concrete, granolithic, terrazzo, asphalt, steel, old vinyl asbestos tiles, epoxy and polyurethane resins, ceramic and quarry tiles.
