Application

Siderise RV vertical cavity barrier for rainscreen cladding are used to full fill the void between the external envelope and internal substrate.

Description

Siderise RV vertical cavity barrier for rainscreen cladding applications consist of a non-combustible stone wool lamella core, with reinforced aluminium foil faces.

Siderise RV vertical cavity barrier are installed within the cavity, formed between the rainscreen facade and the inner structural wall, using the appropriate Siderise support brackets. Brackets are available in either galvanised mild steel (G) or stainless steel (S). The standard product length is 1200mm.

The construction of RV vertical cavity barrier offers resistance to the passage of fire. Additionally, by fully sealing the void, they assist ventilated façades to function by maintaining air-pressurisation compartmentation.

Significantly, their unique stone wool lamella core construction enables the vertical cavity barriers to accommodate the serviceability movement normally associated with rainscreen façades.

Intersections between horizontal and vertical cavity barriers are simply abutted, with RFT 120/45 foil tape applied as detailed in the RV Installation Instructions. The leading edge compresses directly against the external envelope. No intumescent strip is required.

  • Up to 2 hours fire resistance: RV Vertical Cavity Barrier has been tested to BS EN 1366-4:2006+A1:2010, with a range of insulation and integrity performance options to suit any project
  • Protects voids up to 400mm: The product is available in various thicknesses, to suit a wide range of void depths, from 20 – 400mm
  • CCPI assessed:  RV-90/30, RV-90/60, and RV-120/120 have all achieved CCPI assessed status. This provides greater confidence that the product information we publish about these products is clear, accurate, up-to-date, accessible, and unambiguous — and is checked and managed by competent people.
  • Third-party certification: The performance of RV Vertical Cavity Barrier has been certified by Certifire & IFC (fire resistance BS EN 1366-4:2006+A1:2010) and Intertek US and UK (reaction to fire BS EN 13501-1:2018) 
  • Involved in large-scale fire testing: RV Vertical Cavity Barrier has been used in cladding systems assessed under multiple large-scale fire tests, including BS 8414 & NFPA 285
  • 60-year design life: To confirm in-application durability and robustness in its ability maintaining its form and performance when exposed to specific use conditions, RV Vertical Cavity Barriers have been put through EOTA Technical Report 024 ‘Type X’ accelerated age testing - the harshest category, which replicates exposure to rain, UV, high temperatures, and frost and thaw cycles.
  • Third-party verified EPD: The environmental impact of all products in the RV Vertical Cavity Barrier range has been assessed through a lifecycle assessment (LCA) and is detailed in a third-party verified EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) created in accordance with BS EN 15804+A2:2019 and ISO 14025.
