Primer IM : Optimal Primer for Enhancing Adhesion on Porous Substrates - External Wall Primer

Primer IM is Intelligent Membranes' microemulsion consolidation primer for use on dense, old and difficult mineral substrates before applying Passive Purple, Airtight White or Passive Purple External liquid membranes. Where a substrate is too dense, old or contaminated for a liquid membrane to bond directly - such as old lime render, smooth concrete, calcium silicate stone or aged masonry - Primer IM penetrates deeply at a molecular level, consolidating the surface and creating the chemical bond that enables the membrane to adhere reliably.

Applied by spray or roller at approximately 100g/m2 in a single coat only, Primer IM requires no second application. Its deep molecular penetration distinguishes it from conventional surface primers: rather than simply coating the top of the substrate, it works into the material to consolidate loose or degraded zones while simultaneously priming for adhesion. This is critical on old buildings where substrates may be friable or have residues that would otherwise cause delamination.

Primer IM is particularly specified on heritage, retrofit and council housing projects where old lime plaster or render, calcium silicate blocks or aged concrete are present. It is the essential first step before applying Passive Purple or Passive Purple External to these substrate types.
