The R53 Plasterboard Riser Door is a plasterboard-faced access panel designed to provide discreet access to concealed building services within walls, riser shafts and service cupboards. Suitable for residential, commercial and public sector buildings, the panel is engineered to deliver a seamless finish while allowing convenient access for inspection, maintenance and servicing of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) installations.

The panel incorporates the RapidFit® quick-fitting hinge system, enabling fast single-person installation and reducing installation time. A three-point locking mechanism is supplied as standard to provide secure closure, while the beaded frame is designed to accept skim-coat plaster, creating a flush, concealed appearance that blends seamlessly with the surrounding wall finish.

Manufactured from high-quality steel with a plasterboard-faced door, the R53 range is finished in a durable RAL 9010 (30% gloss) polyester powder coating as standard, with alternative RAL colours available on request.

The R53 range is available in non-fire-rated, up to 2-hour fire-rated, acoustic-rated (up to 30 dB) and airtight configurations to meet a wide range of project performance requirements. Acoustic variants have been tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2, airtight variants have achieved Class 2 air permeability when tested to BS EN 1026, and smoke-rated versions have been tested in accordance with BS EN 1634-3. Ideal for providing concealed access to pipework, valves, ductwork, cabling and other building services while maintaining a high-quality plastered wall finish.

Installation

Designed for installation within plasterboard wall systems, riser shafts and service cupboards.

• Prepare the structural opening in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
• Install the frame before applying the final skim coat to achieve a flush plaster finish.
• Secure the frame using suitable mechanical fixings appropriate to the substrate.
• For fire-rated, acoustic and airtight variants, install in accordance with the relevant test evidence and manufacturer's guidance to achieve the specified performance.
