Twinfix's Role in Enhancing Access at Oldham Library with Bespoke Entrance Canopies

OVERVIEW

Twinfix's Role in Enhancing Access at Oldham Library with Bespoke Entrance Canopies

Introduction

As part of the recent refurbishment of Oldham Library, Twinfix was appointed to design, manufacture and install three bespoke entrance canopies serving the civic centre, theatre workshop and staff entrance. The new canopies form part of a wider programme of improvements aimed at modernising the building while enhancing accessibility, comfort and the overall visitor experience.

Twinfix's Role in Enhancing Access and Weather Protection

Twinfix supplied and installed three aluminium canopies designed to provide effective weather protection while complementing the building's contemporary appearance. The project included a cantilevered reverse mono-pitch canopy at the civic centre entrance and two free-standing mono-pitch canopies at the theatre workshop and staff entrance.

Constructed using Twinfix's Alu-link-panel roofing system and aluminium framework, the canopies offer a durable, low-maintenance solution suitable for a busy public building. All three structures were powder-coated in RAL 7015 (Slate Grey), creating a cohesive visual identity across the site and complementing the renovated exterior.

Project Overview

The refurbishment of Oldham Library required high-quality external features that would integrate seamlessly with the upgraded architecture while improving the functionality of key access points.

The civic centre entrance canopy features a cantilevered reverse mono-pitch design, creating a clean, open entrance without the need for front support posts. The theatre workshop and staff entrance canopies utilise free-standing mono-pitch structures, providing practical sheltered access while maintaining design consistency throughout the development.

By combining robust aluminium construction with Alu-link-panel roofing, Twinfix delivered a solution that balances aesthetics, performance and long-term durability.

Outcome

The completed canopy installations enhance both the appearance and usability of Oldham Library. Visitors and staff now benefit from improved weather protection at each entrance, creating safer and more comfortable access throughout the year.

The consistent specification across all three canopies establishes a unified architectural appearance, while the tailored designs demonstrate Twinfix's ability to deliver bespoke canopy solutions that meet the specific requirements of individual locations within a larger refurbishment project.
