Steadmans - Strength, Space and Reliability for Modern Cattle Housing

OVERVIEW

When Dylan Roberts CYF began work on a new cattle housing facility at Glynllifon, North Wales, the aim was to create a robust, efficient, and future-ready agricultural building.

The result is an impressive 39-metre clear span structure, stretching 50 metres in length and divided into ten 5-metre bays. With 4.5 metres to the eaves, it provides exceptional open space and natural ventilation – ideal conditions for maintaining livestock welfare. A 10 m x 3 m plant room has also been integrated along one side, offering valuable service and equipment space.

Precision and Performance:

Steadmans supplied the complete secondary structural steel package, comprising approximately 10 tonnes of cold-rolled steel. Our Technical Team carried out full design-stage calculations, ensuring every component met the project’s high standards for strength and precision.

The specification included a 2-metre-wide Gale Breaker light ridge to maximise daylight and airflow, along with two Gale Breaker Agri Door Pro systems featuring convenient hand transmitters for smooth, reliable operation.

Built for Growth:

Designed with the future in mind, the structure can accommodate a 20-metre extension, allowing for easy expansion as the farm’s needs evolve.

The finished building demonstrates the best of Steadmans’ agricultural solutions — combining durability, practicality, and design versatility. Throughout the project, our team worked closely with Dylan Roberts CYF to ensure materials were delivered on schedule, communication remained clear, and every stage ran efficiently from design to completion.

The Outcome:

The new cattle housing facility at Glynllifon delivers:

  • Robust structural design – The cold-rolled steel frame provides long-term strength and stability suitable for agricultural use.
  • Practical open layout – The clear span design and generous height allow good airflow and space for livestock movement and welfare.
  • Designed for expansion – The building layout allows a 20-metre extension to be added when additional housing or capacity is required.
  • Efficient project coordination – Close communication between Steadmans and Dylan Roberts CYF supported timely delivery and smooth installation.
