OVERVIEW
As one of the UK’s leading fabrication specialists,
D Facades was proud to play a pivotal role in the
delivery of the new library in the heart of King’s Lynn
- a technically demanding project, led by Hudson
Architects.
A very different and all-encompassing
fabrication project which demanded precision,
collaboration and meticulous execution at every
stage of the process.
Complex Challenges
Transforming a long-vacant commercial structure
(previously home to retail units, offices, car park and
nightclub) into a landmark civic building presented a
complex set of challenges.
Having stood empty for numerous years, the four-
storey concrete sub-frame was widely regarded
locally as an eyesore. The re-development demanded
a carefully coordinated approach to both the
fabrication and installation - with no room for error.
Particularly as the vision for this abandoned space
was the creation of a vibrant destination for learning,
support services and community engagement. A hub
for the whole community, anchored in sustainability and modernity.
Extensive & complex precision fabrication solutions
Specialist fabrication solutions were required
extensively at King’s Lynn. From bespoke
architectural fabrication to the facade, to PPC sleek
window surrounds and copings, to intricate water
outlets - carefully calculated to be just the right size
to capture key functionality, without being intrusive
aesthetically. We were even called on to create these
distinctive bird boxes too. D Facades fabrication
elements were featured broadly.
For this comprehensive project, Q-VENT rainscreen subframe solutions were also incorporated widely; along with the implementation of precision, pre-fabricated Equitone shingle panels.
