Application

Designed to provide protection from water ingress for projects that also need a flow of air to enter the building.

Description

SYSTEM OVERVIEW:

Contour® VL is a modular aluminium ventilation louvre system designed to provide effective natural airflow and protection from water ingress for plant rooms and HVAC enclosures.

  • Designed to provide protection from water ingress while allowing controlled airflow into buildings.
  • Utilizes horizontal aluminium louvre blades to regulate airflow while maintaining façade screening.
  • Available in multiple blade pitch options (50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm) to suit airflow and aesthetic requirements.
  • Provides high free-area performance to support natural ventilation strategies.
  • Suitable for plant rooms, HVAC enclosures and façade ventilation zones.
  • System can incorporate louvred doors, vermin guards and insect mesh where required.
  • Modular system with consistent mullion centres for predictable installation and coordination.
  • Balances airflow efficiency with weather resistance to reduce risk of equipment overheating and water ingress.

TESTING:

  • Airflow and weather performance tested in accordance with recognized standards (e.g. EN 13030).
  • Airflow coefficients and free-area performance defined to support accurate system specification.
  • Weather performance classified (e.g. Class C) for resistance to water ingress under defined conditions.

BLADE CONSTRUCTION:

  • Louvre blades manufactured from aluminium 6063 T6.
  • Blade pitch options typically 50 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm depending on performance requirements.
  • Blade profile designed to optimize airflow while providing weather resistance.
  • Nominal free area ranging approximately from 54% to 60% depending on blade type.

Blade performance options:

  • VL50: Class 3, coefficient of entry 0.269 (with mesh).
  • VL75: Class 2, coefficient of entry 0.310 (with mesh).
  • VL100: Class 2, coefficient of entry 0.315 (with mesh).
  • Blade geometry coordinated to balance airflow efficiency and rain defence.
  • Suitable for integration with optional accessories such as vermin guards and insect mesh (subject to airflow impact).

VERTICAL SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION:

  • Vertical mullions manufactured from aluminium 6063 T6 extrusions.
  • Standard mullion depth 40 mm, with alternative sizes available (e.g. 11 mm, 70 mm).
  • Mullion fixing centres typically 1225 mm.
  • Designed to accommodate structural loads, tolerances and alignment requirements.
  • Provides consistent support and alignment for louvre blade installation.
  • Interfaces with primary structure or secondary support systems as required.

BRACKET CONSTRUCTION:

  • Brackets and cleats designed to secure mullions to primary structure.
  • Louvre blades fixed via aluminium blade clips to mullions.
  • Cleats bespoke to suit project-specific fixing requirements.
  • Suitable for fixing to concrete, steel or secondary structural systems.
  • Designed to accommodate installation tolerances and ensure accurate alignment.
  • Enables stable and repeatable installation across façade areas.

INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE ADVANTAGES:

  • Modular louvre system enables efficient, repeatable installation.
  • Blade clip fixing system simplifies installation and improves accuracy.
  • Standardized components support predictable installation sequencing.
  • Open louvre design allows easy inspection and maintenance access.
  • System can be adapted to suit varying airflow and façade requirements.
  • Supports programme certainty through simplified installation methodology.

BLADE COLOUR / FINISH:

  • Polyester powder-coated to 60 µm or anodized to 25 µm.
  • Available in standard RAL or BS colour ranges.
  • Finish selected to suit project aesthetic and environmental requirements.

VERTICAL SUPPORT FINISH:

  • Mullions polyester powder-coated to 60 µm or anodized to 25 µm.
  • Colour to match or complement louvre blade finish.

BRACKET FINISH:

  • Typically galvanized mild steel or aluminium components depending on system design.
  • Polyester powder-coating (60 µm) available where exposed or for aesthetic coordination.
