Angle section windposts designed to provide lateral restraint to masonry panels under wind loading. Suitable for heavily loaded conditions and installations with restricted cavity widths.
Lateral restraint of masonry panels under wind load
Structural support to brick and blockwork façades
Applications with restricted cavity widths
Movement joints and large masonry panels
Vertical spanning between floor slabs or structural frames
The VEW1 angle windposts are engineered to provide effective lateral support to masonry panels subjected to wind loads. The angle section design allows the inner leg to be built into the inner leaf, with the return leg positioned within the cavity, making it ideal for applications with limited cavity space.
Windposts are generally designed as simply supported beams with a maximum deflection limit of span/360). Where deflection control is critical, a propped cantilever design can be utilised to significantly reduce movement, although this requires a larger baseplate.
Two-way windpost ties are supplied as standard to tie the inner leg to the masonry. One-way ties to tie in the outer leaf and debonded two-way windpost ties are available as options for windposts poisitioned at movement joints.
Windpost base and head connections are designed bespoke to suit project specific requirements.
Manufactured from stainless steel or carbon steel to suit environmental and structural requirements.
