Application

Contour® HP is used for plant rooms, HVAC enclosures and façade ventilation zones where high levels of weather protection and controlled airflow are required, particularly in commercial and infrastructure developments.

Description

SYSTEM OVERVIEW:

Contour® HP is a high-performance aluminium weather louvre system designed to provide controlled airflow with superior protection against water ingress for plant rooms and HVAC enclosures.

  • Designed for applications requiring maximum weather protection alongside effective ventilation.
  • Utilizes a patented aerodynamic aluminium louvre blade profile to optimize airflow, reduce resistance and minimize pressure drop.
  • Can be configured as single-bank or double-bank louvre arrangements to achieve enhanced (Class A) weather performance.
  • Provides effective screening of plant equipment while maintaining ventilation performance.
  • High-performance weather protection helps safeguard plant machinery and equipment from environmental exposure.
  • Modular system with consistent mullion centres for predictable installation and coordination.
  • Suitable for plant rooms, HVAC enclosures and façade ventilation zones.
  • Balances airflow efficiency with high levels of rain defence to reduce risk of water ingress and equipment failure.

TESTING:

  • Tested in accordance with recognized standards for airflow and weather performance (e.g. EN 13030).
  • Weather performance classifications include:
    • Class A (up to 99.1% effectiveness);
    • Class B (up to 96.2% effectiveness).
  • Airflow performance defined by coefficient of entry and free-area values.
  • System performance varies depending on blade pitch and single or double-bank configuration.

BLADE CONSTRUCTION:

  • Louvre blades manufactured from aluminium 6063 T6.
  • Blade pitch options typically 50 mm and 75 mm depending on performance requirements.
  • Patented aerodynamic blade profile designed to maximize airflow while minimising water ingress and pressure drop.
  • Blade configuration can be adapted from single-bank to double-bank to improve rain defence performance.

Blade performance options:

  • HP50:
    • Coefficient of entry: 0.288
    • Airflow class: 3
    • Nominal free area: approx. 52%
    • Weather performance: Class A (up to 99.1% effectiveness)
    • Achieves Class A performance at air velocities up to 2 m/s
  • HP75:
    • Coefficient of entry: 0.303
    • Airflow class: 2
    • Nominal free area: approx. 58%
    • Weather performance: Class B (up to 96.2% effectiveness)
    • Achieves Class B performance at air velocities up to 1.5 m/s
  • Blade geometry coordinated to balance airflow efficiency and rain defence.
  • Suitable for integration with accessories such as vermin guards and insect mesh (subject to airflow impact).

VERTICAL SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION:

  • Vertical mullions manufactured from aluminium 6063 T6 extrusions.
  • Standard mullion depth 40 mm, with alternative sizes available (e.g. 11 mm, 70 mm).
  • Mullion fixing centres typically 1225 mm.
  • Designed to accommodate structural loads, tolerances and alignment requirements.
  • Provides consistent support for louvre blade installation across façade areas.
  • Interfaces with primary structure or secondary support systems as required.

BRACKET CONSTRUCTION:

  • Brackets and cleats designed to secure mullions to primary structure.
  • Louvre blades fixed via aluminium blade clips to mullions.
  • Cleats bespoke to suit project-specific fixing requirements.
  • Suitable for fixing to concrete, steel or secondary structural systems.
  • Designed to accommodate installation tolerances and ensure accurate alignment.
  • Enables stable and repeatable installation across façade areas.

INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE ADVANTAGES:

  • Modular louvre system enables efficient, repeatable installation.
  • Blade clip fixing system simplifies installation and improves accuracy.
  • Flexible system configuration (single or double bank) allows performance adjustment without redesign.
  • Durable aluminium construction provides low maintenance requirements.
  • Supports programme certainty through simplified installation methodology.

BLADE COLOUR / FINISH:

  • Polyester powder-coated to 60 µm or anodized to 25 µm.
  • Available in standard RAL or BS colour ranges.
  • Finish selected to suit project aesthetic and environmental requirements.

VERTICAL SUPPORT FINISH:

  • Mullions polyester powder-coated to 60 µm or anodized to 25 µm.
  • Colour to match or complement louvre blade finish.

BRACKET FINISH:

  • Typically galvanized mild steel or aluminium components depending on system design.
  • Polyester powder-coating (60 µm) available where exposed or for aesthetic coordination.
