The Cube, Birmingham

OVERVIEW

The Cube, close to Birmingham’s jewellery quarter Architect Ken Shuttleworth wanted the building’s architectural language to reflect the jewel concept, “a protective box that glistened like a jewel”. Axter provided three different waterproofing systems to this iconic building:- WILOTEKT-PLUS second generation structural waterproofing system to the internal courtyard areas and high level podium decks FORCE 4000 TRAFIC to exposed balconies TOPFIX mechanically fastened two layer system to the high level pitched roof plant rooms FORCE 4000 DALLE single layer membrane to balconies under paving EXCEL HR S high performance capsheet for all detailing AXTER XPS 140 mm thick thermal insulation.
