In the London district of Blackheath, the owners, the Coopers, began by purchasing a pagoda originally built by the architect Sir William Chambers (1723 – 1796) in the oriental style. For their retirement, however, they wanted a modern, energy-efficient home, while preferably staying in this green part of the city. A good friend of the family suggested building below the pagoda. The single-family home was designed by their son Sam Cooper, director of E2 Architecture + Interiors.
