The project was for the construction of a heated helipad at Sheffieldâs
Northern General Hospital. The scheme included a dedicated heated access ramp
leading down to the A&E entrance.
We put together a specification for heating the main helipad and the ramp. Heating
was required to prevent ice and snow forming which would inhibit the team from safely transporting patients to the hospital. We designed a solution which involved using a 3 phase 400V system with an output of 300W/M2. The system was designed in 3/4 sections to ensure the load did not exceed the supply.
