LayRed 55 Engineered Vinyl delivers at Napier Gateway Housing

OVERVIEW

Our award-winning LayRed 55 engineered vinyl flooring by IVC Commercial has been installed at Luton Napier Gateway, a mixed-use housing development.

Installation, maintenance and cost win

With 685 residential apartments, a hotel, retail and leisure outlets and a landscaped public park, Luton Napier Gateway is an example of the changing face of living in the UK. The 6,9 acre scheme, close to Luton Airport, is being delivered over four phases at a cost of £ 300 m and will have a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Phases 1 and 2 of the development – three residential towers of up to 20 stories – have seen 16.000 m² of LayRed 55 installed throughout apartments. LayRed 55 is a loose lay acoustic engineered vinyl floor that provides a durable, easy to maintain and quiet floor for use in homes and businesses.

A homelike feel with notable benefits

A timber floor was originally specified for apartments by the architect. However, Luton Napier Gateway’s main contractor JJ Rhatigan, proposed LayRed 55 as an alternative solution. Project Manager Kevin Larkin explains:

“The architects had specified a timber floor for private living and bedroom areas, but we felt that IVC Commercial’s LayRed 55 could provide the same homelike look while offering some notable benefits. The floor’s speed of installation, acoustic performance and easy maintenance, as well as a substantial cost saving against the original specification, were all factors in the client’s approval of our proposal.”

Quick and easy installation

LayRed 55’s click installation is quick and easy – a considerable factor in projects of this scale – while the integrated acoustic pad eliminated the need for a separate material to combat the sound of footsteps and movement from the floor above. Installed by specialist flooring contractor, The Floor Form Group, LayRed 55 features a lightweight rigid core and multiple glass fibre layers for a strong and stable vinyl floor.

Available in true to nature wood and stone designs that bring projects closer to nature, the floor has a textured, matt surface and with the clarity of its Twinguard PU finish, it delivers authenticity across its original looks. LayRed 55 is made in Belgium using renewable energy and 30% recycled content.
