JS Air Curtains at Speedo

OVERVIEW

JS Air Curtains has recently supplied and installed a Standesse air curtain to the Speedo retail outlet in Covent Garden, London. The air curtain creates a barrier of air across the entrance, enabling the shop to leave its front doors invitingly open without allowing in cold air during the winter, or allowing expensive air conditioned air to escape during the summer.

Research has shown that by leaving a shop’s doors open, passing trade can be increased by as much as 40%.

The Standesse air curtain range is very versatile and comes with a variety of control options to suit all applications. These include thermostats, door open sensors, outside temperature sensors and timers. Up to six Standesse air curtains can be joined together and regulated from the same controller with a choice of either electric heating, water heating or air only models. Electric heating outputs range from 9-18kW and air outputs from 1,660m³ to 4,920m³ per hour.

The Standesse can be used to provide an effective seal on any doorway up to 4m high and is available in white as standard but also stainless steel or any RAL colour. A micro-perforated inlet grille at the front of the unit acts as a filter to prevent dust and airborne particles from entering the air curtain. A simple wipe or vacuum from regular cleaning staff is all that is required to maintain the Standesse.

The air curtain project at Speedo was managed by JS Air Curtains’ in-house installation department. A complete service is provided to ensure the customer is guided through the installation of their air curtain from system design to product training. This includes agreeing exact specifications prior to installation, a step-by-step method statement for the project, detailed scheduling, risk assessment, and a post installation trouble-shooting and handover meeting.
