Hackney - Residential Bound Permeable Pavement

OVERVIEW

The pedestrian space for the Daubeney Road residences has been designed as a bound permeable pavement using granite setts and fully permeable 10mm joints formed with tuffflow permeable jointing mortar. Surface water infiltrates the tuffflow joints, draining into a permeable granular stone base, via tuffbed 2-pack SuDS Type35 permeable bedding mortar. The surface water then drains into a subsurface attenuation system from where it is released gradually into the main surface water drainage system. By making use of the latest techniques and materials the designers have created a bound permeable pedestrian surface which is low maintenance, highly durable and more attractive than would have been possible using unbound, pre-cast concrete block paving typically laid in a herringbone pattern.
