The 99 mile long A87 is a major trunk road in the Scottish Highlands with an average daily vehicle movement of 2200. Due to the high exposure of the Road and deep foundations of peat the road is susceptible to flexural cracking. A solution was required to the differential movement and flexing of the carriageway. ABG Rotaflex 830 asphalt reinforcement geocomposite was selected due to its high strength/low strain glass fibre grid. Applied over Bitumen the Rotaflex bonded and set hard under asphalt. Once applied Rotaflex provided an effective, efficient low maintenance solution
