Style & Heating in Union at Unite

OVERVIEW

A stylish Zen air curtain from JS Air Curtains is providing the primary heating source for the main reception area at the headquarters of Unite, Britain’s biggest union, in Holborn, London.

Having worked with JS Air Curtains on previous projects, electrical contractors E J White & Son specified the 2m Zen air curtain to sit above the automatic doors of Unite’s main entrance. It can supply up to 30kW heating output, keeping the reception space, with Unite’s staff and many visitors, at a comfortable ambient temperature. In this application, the Zen was supplied with stainless steel covers, one of several cover options available with this air curtain, to complement the reception area’s décor.

Dave White, MD at E J White & Son, commented: “We enjoy a good working relationship with JS Air Curtains, whose products are high performing and always look great. We chose the Zen because of its flexibility and heating output, which in this instance meant it could act as the main heating source for the designated space.”

The Zen air curtain can be fitted with bespoke fascia panels that can provide a corporate branding opportunity or add to the functionality of the air curtain by including clocks or signage.

The fascia can be made out of anodized aluminium (as standard), stainless steel or wood. It can have a gloss, matt or brushed finish. The central structure is made of zinc plated steel finished in RAL 9913 black forge as standard with any other RAL colour available on request.

The Zen is offered with electric or water heaters, and as an air only model. The discharge vents have airfoil shaped vanes to direct the airflow creating a tighter seal across a doorway.

Low noise, double inlet centrifugal fans with external rotor motors provide up to 6,475m3/h airflow making this air curtain ideal for use on doorways up to 3.5m high.
