Rondo has supplied an external soffit ceiling frame for the Dubai Metro Station project. The Green Line of the Dubai Metro is the second Dubai Metro light rail line in Dubai. The route starts in Al Ghusais, and runs along Al Nahda Rd and Salahuddin Rd above ground. The Green line runs through Deira and Bur Dubai and generally runs parallel to Dubai Creek.

Rondo worked closely with contractor Future Carpentry and Ceilings providing 92mm Stud & Track Systems, Key-Lock Ceiling Systems and heavy gauge Rondo products externally, throughout the project. A special feature in the design involved an intricate ‘wave’ ceiling feature requiring both convex and concave curved Rondo TCR sections to achieve the desired effect.

This massive project took two years of construction to complete, and Rondo’s technical services team were able to provide design solutions for challenging areas in the project. This included a heavy gauge 150mm Steel Stud Wall Framing System which required alignment with and concealment of the structural frame of the building, and a 6 metre high internal dividing wall that was subjected to higher internal pressures due to the louvres installed.

Rondo provided essential technical expertise and design solutions for the fire walls and security mesh between tenancies.

The Rondo KEY-LOCK suspended ceiling system with radius top cross rail was specified to create the proposed arch ceiling, along with Steel Stud and Track for the walls in other areas of the project.

Fogarty Bros, who are the main commercial plasters in Bundaberg for over 15 years, were contracted to install the internal and external linings. Due to the region’s conditions, external wall designs for cyclonic conditions were needed, pre-construction meetings were needed to discuss benefits and limitations. The builder used extra structural steel where needed and custom suit windows to fit the Rondo design.

The Hague, Netherlands

Mauritshuis is located in the heart of The Hague. It is famous around the world for its premium art collection. The intimate museum rooms of this 17th century monument display over two hundred excellent art works by Dutch and Flemish Masters. Boon Edam installed two special revolving doors in the museum's newly constructed section, one of which is a Tourniket that is 4.6 m high.
The underground entrance foyer is actually located six meters below street level, but now with this renovation, as daylight penetrates from all sides, it feels very light and spacious. “Before the renovation, the museum’s entrance on the side of the building was rather cramped,” says architect Hans van Heeswijk at the press preview. In order to create a more generous reception area, he decided to move the main entrance under the forecourt of the listed, seventeenth-century Dutch Classicist house, which had to remain exactly the way it was.
It was a feat in itself to connect two buildings underground and to lower the foundation of the new wing. The small surface area and the building's location right next to the Prime Minister's tower made this construction project quite complex. Boon Edam was honoured to supply two special automatic revolving doors that had to suit the new museum wings perfectly.

Customising the building with KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling System, particularly Rondo 155 Furring Chanel which is 48mm wide, and required perforated plasterboard to be attached. Rondo and Allcoast worked together to achieve the curved corners in the feature ceiling. Although a great success, it was initially a tricky scenario to tackle due to the difficult shape that a tiered, KEY-LOCK Ceiling offers, including tight bends and corners. To form the curve in the ceiling, the contractor had to utilise plywood and cut to the same shape of the corner. Not only did this provide the desired effect, it added additional strength to the Rondo framework.

To achieve this, the newly launched Rondo MAXIframe External Wall Framing System was specified, with Rondo MAXIjamb designed for installation around door jambs and internal window openings. This meant Expoconti could save time on site as MAXIjamb replaces the necessity for multiple stud configurations, as well as offering greater performance capacities than traditional wall stud framing.

Perth’s first and only carrier-neutral colocation Data Centre is designed and built with the latest data centre technologies to promote continuity for energy-efficient technology and security. P1’s construction timeline estimated 15 months to completion, allocating time for design reviews and adjustments.The initial door framing sections specified in the design plans were reviewed for the project’s construction.

Melbourne’s CBD features a $230 million Victoria Police ‘super’ complex. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects, the 12 level, 27,000m2 project provided Rondo Victoria’s Charlie Khoury with the opportunity to work with their project team in the early design process to come up with solutions to meet their architectural requirements. Together with Rondo’s technical services engineers many solutions were found such as how to satisfy a requirement for the many free-standing walls to be constructed without using structural steel.
