Chemical termite controls were not an option because of toxicity issues, making a clean and environmentally safe physical termite barrier the correct solution.APPROACHA typical WA site, the college’s location is predominantly flat, with sandy soils and substrates. In general, this type of environment poses a high risk for termite attack common to this region of Western Australia. SOLUTIONThe main challenge with the installation came from the rammed earth exterior walls. Their natural composition can chip easily, so nailing or sealing the termite barrier onto the wall was not practical.Our solution was to install Termimesh cold joint /paver trays to the perimeter of the concrete slab edge. These protected the concealed entry point between the slab and wall. They also engaged into the external pavement instead of against the rammed earth wall itself.BENEFITSThe Termimesh System which comprises of our 725 grade stainless steel mesh, Termiparge bonding cement and high grade stainless steel clamps not only met their strict requirement of no chemicals it will also continue to provide them with reassurance and peace of mind the comes with our market leading Pledge Guarantee. The Pledge Guarantee provides the client with a 10 year guarantee that requires no annual inspections during that initial period. The client then has the option to extend this on an ongoing basis by having an approved annual inspection.

Rondo were approached by Expoconti to supply the necessary wall and ceiling component of the build. The tower features multiple “loft” style apartments, which allows it to nestle one and two-bedroom apartments in an overlapping formation, giving both high-ceiling living areas and lofty mezzanine interior spaces.

Rondo worked closely with C&L Ceilings who were charged with the wall and ceiling contract. In order to be sure that the building’s external facade would remain structurally secure and adhere to the architectural detail, C&L installed Fibrous Cement Sheets, supported by heavy gauge Rondo components.

The initial project had been executed in August 2017. Customising the building with KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling System, particularly Rondo 155 Furring Chanel which is 48mm wide, and required perforated plasterboard to be attached. Bulkheads, soffit areas and external walls were designed by the Rondo Engineering team.

Rondo Technical Representative Tino Cucinotta, worked closely with the 2DG team – and assisted with the supply of QUIET STUD Acoustic Wall System, Stud & Track and Finishing Sections, whilst Rondo’s newly released XPRESS Drywall Grid Ceiling System was due to arrive, ensuring the project could continue efficiently.

The Rondo team were engaged in the project to design the ceiling framework for the lobby of the twenty-five-storey building. The Rondo KEY-LOCK suspended ceiling system with radius top cross rail was specified to create the proposed arch ceiling, along with Steel Stud and Track for the walls in other areas of the project.

Buildup Interior carried out construction of the internal fit out packages - Rondo Steel Stud Walls and Ceilings in July 2018 that had been designed with Kelly Zammit. Buildup Interior chose to use Rondo over competitive brands due to a long standing relationship with, and understanding of its service offering.

The Forensic Pathology & Coroner's Court is located in Lidcombe NSW. Fairview's deemed-to-satisfy non-combustible Vitracore G2 panels were chosen to achieve the unique exterior as designed by Silver Thomas Hanley and Cox Architecture, The design features vertical fins with pyramid details in five complementary finishes - Fresh Green, Pure White, Cool Grey from Fairview standard range and custom colours. This project proved to be quite a challenge for LCJ Engineers and Rondo to design, due to the very high wind loads together with wall heights up to 4.2m, which resulted in having back to back 150mm studs at 300mm centres. This project was nicknamed “Steel City” and from viewing the images, you can see why.

The resort offers numerous accommodation styles, most beautifully appointed with balconies or terraces. Jewel on the Gold Coast (Jewel), a luxury development of three crystalline towers constructed on the internationally renowned Surfers Paradise beachfront, Gold Coast. Jewel consists of 513 apartments and a 169-room luxury hotel – a first of its kind on the Gold Coast. The towers with their distinctive glass curtain walling system, are the result of a collaboration between Oppenheim Architects and DBI Design. The fundamental design concept drew inspiration from three smoky quartz crystals that we discovered in the region. Jewel is inspired by the crystalline volcanic hook that forms the underlying structure at the coastline and, in particular, the Gold Coast’s iconic hinterland. Multiplex was awarded this prestigious project and commenced construction of this billion-dollar development in 2016. The Jewel is Australia’s largest beachfront mixed-use development and the first absolute beachfront development on the Gold Coast in more than thirty years. Tilecorp Pty Ltd. was awarded the tiling contract on the project that included the installation of 600 x 300 mm porcelain tiles in the public areas, travertine in the apartments, penny round mosaics on the walls in the public amenities, and cobblestone in the outdoor areas.

The project recently won Best Multi-Unit Development at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. This is a great achievement, especially considering that when Rondo were approached by contractor, Metrex, to assist with Latitude’s wall and ceiling design, it was only 70% design ready leaving Rondo the task to finish the remaining 30% requirements.

Rondo has so far provided over 10,000lm of various wall and ceiling systems, including Rondo Steel Stud Drywall Framing System, KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling System and DUO Exposed Grid Ceiling System. More complicated designs arose when it was discovered that the high cyclonic winds would affect the facade of the building.

Designed by Woods Bagot Pty Ltd and built by Lend Lease Group, BCG manufactured curved heat strengthened laminated glass panels for the feature stair to the entry lobby of the first completed commercial tower at Barangaroo – International Towers Sydney (ITS) 2. Working closely with Woods Bagot Architects and fabricators F & D Normoyle Engineering, BCG assisted with the fine tuning of the detail design. BCG’s precision bending and laminating processes provided the quality of finish and timely supply required to ensure the successful completion of the project.

As the project was located in Hobart, it required the project team including Rondo to work together to be organised and keep a clear path of communication. This resulted in the full specification being completed early in the process, the specification included Rondo Wall Stud, KEY LOCK Ceiling Systems, DUO Ceiling Systems, External Soffit Systems and our extensive knowledge on seismic design.

Rondo worked with Forman Commercial Interiors and Alpha Holdings on the three storey, $40 million project by providing all of the Steel Stud and Track requirements along with the KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System. Due to the various wall systems designed, Rondo supplied diagrammatic specifications for the junction details to assist in completing the project, which finished in August this year.

Built by Mossop Construction & Interiors, the $50m hall is located on campus at Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD. The Great Hall, dubbed as a ‘one-stop shop’, will not only benefit University students and staff, but also the local community as it features a sports complex and swimming pool. Rondo were approached to provide designs for full seismic requirements and worked with Ceiling & Wall Contractors Adelaide.

Ivanhoe’s newest building is a landmark you can’t miss. The facade components of light bricks, dark cladding and luminous aluminium Click-on Battens perfectly complement each other, creating a contemporary finish. The interior also features our battens, which seamlessly connects to the exterior. The building comprises a three-level basement, ground floor retail outlets, two levels of offices and multiple fully appointed apartments among the two upper levels. The building is bordered on three sides by busy public roads which posed logistical challenges with its construction. However, the speed and ease of installing Click-on Battens alleviated this issue on the upper levels. The curved facade is wrapped in Sculptform aluminium Click-on Battens. They were installed upon standard and curved tracks which were delivered to site in a flexible state so that they’re able to be wrapped around the substrate and hug the exterior. Batten clips are factory fixed to the tracks at the spacing sequence that is specified. Helping to save time installing on-site. Battens are simply push-clicked onto mounting tracks that are positioned behind the battens in a concealed manner.

Rondo provided Red Oak Contracts Pty Ltd with the external wall, soffit and bulkhead designs which were submitted to BADGE and Hames Sharley Architects for approval. Rondo’s technical team highlight the quality of workmanship on this project, especially when comparing the designs to the finished installation. The stock was supplied on time and accurate with Rondo working with all parties throughout this project which is a credit to all involved.

Working beside Doig Architecture, Rondo provided expert design and technical advice particularly with the high internal walls. Regular on-site inspections ensured products were installed to specification and delivered on time. Fogarty Bros, who are the main commercial plasters in Bundaberg for over 15 years, were contracted to install the internal and external linings. Due to the region’s conditions, external wall designs for cyclonic conditions were needed, pre-construction meetings were needed to discuss benefits and limitations. The builder used extra structural steel where needed and custom suit windows to fit the Rondo design.

45 Clarence St, is a striking office tower located in the busy western corridor of Sydney’s commercial district, with extensive views of Darling Harbour and Barangaroo, it is a prestigious building with various companies operating inside this office building, such as Business Sydney and CBRE.As part of the refurbishment, which included the lobby upgrade, CS worked extensively with the property management team, architect, builder, and installer to deliver the architectural grilles for this project. There was a unique vision to use the Econoline indoors in a commercial building instead of using it as an outdoor vision barrier grille. The focus of this refurbishment was to provide a bespoke architectural grille to line the ceiling and vertical walls of the lobby and modernise the building.The Econoline is typically used in locations such as parking garages, concealing mechanical equipment and for many refacing applications. Having the Econoline installed in a commercial building is a unique opportunity that will result in more products being used for aesthetic purposes. The challenge that was faced with the Econoline being used indoors was that the tapered vertical walls on two sides as grilles needed to be a certain distance above ground level and to be structurally sound.On completion, the lobby at 45 Clarence St Sydney is unique from your typical office building. This is also exciting for CS, to be part of a project that has been transformative and elegant in design.

Rondo has been a major asset to the project providing reputable advice, technical design solutions and fortnightly inspections, ensuring the development is on track and our systems are installed correctly. Our Technical Services Team has supported Rondo Victoria in assisting project architects Bates Smart Architects and Silver Thomas Hanley and builder Lend Lease improve comprehensive designs for all internal walls and ceilings for the project.

Designed and built by C Plus C Architectural Workshop. Large format curved glass panels up to 2400mm high x 3500mm girth have been manufactured by Bent & Curved Glass in a variety of glass types to meet the design requirements for thermal performance, privacy, night lighting effects while also maximising natural light and a sense of space and openness. Early consultation between architect, glass manufacturer and frame fabricator and a process of glass sampling, review and selection created the best project outcomes. The quality of these glass elements has made a significant contribution to the success of this exceptional project.

This hurdle was overcome with the assistance of Rondo’s Technical Team who created unique designs of the external façade framing which pleased Contractor Conrad Linings and Builder, Broad Construction Services. Furthermore, Rondo worked in consultation with Hyder Engineers for a solution of the 150mm MAXIframe External Walls and Framing that required galvanised sheet metal to be installed on top of the framework to prevent any potential water ingress, with Rondo supervising the correct installation.

To set the internal aesthetics apart from other similar projects being built in Brisbane, Wood Marsh Architects designed some jaw-dropping gold ribbon ceilings that hover above the modern curved walls, which elegantly wrap around the lobby floor. In saying this, achieving perfection is not a simple task and none of this could have been accomplished without Rondo’s technical designs and NAC’s expertise in making them come to life.

This new building was constructed by Lend Lease with Foxville Projects Group (NSW) being appointed as the lead fit out contractor. Rondo supplied an extensive range of ceiling and partition systems, as well as technical support throughout the project, which included design for all the internal walls, shelf loads, balustrade design utilising stud and track as well as ongoing support throughout the project construction period in regards to Rondo products within the design criteria.

Construction has concluded on the redevelopment of the ‘old Harris Scarfe’ site at Rundle Mall in Adelaide. The renovations seek to re-energise the area but remain committed to preserve Adelaide’s most cherished department store. Four floors of retail space have had the base built by Interior Projects who have been a valued Rondo customer since 1988. Rondo provided essential technical expertise and design solutions for the fire walls and security mesh between tenancies.

Rondo has delivered exceptional expertise and technical assistance during the design and construction of Melbourne’s Prima Pearl, residential skyscraper. This prestigious 667 apartment landmark boasts unparalleled amenities across 72 levels, some of which include a private cinema, virtual golf driving range and Level 67 Sky Lounge. By assisting Brookfield Multiplex Constructions’ architects at the design stage, Rondo has ensured our products are readily accessible on site, resulting in less design enquiries during construction. Rondo will be supplying the project with Stud and Track in 64mm, 76mm and 92mm sizes, KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System and PANTHER Access Panels.

Melbourne’s CBD features a $230 million Victoria Police ‘super’ complex. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects, the 12 level, 27,000m2 project provided Rondo Victoria’s Charlie Khoury with the opportunity to work with their project team in the early design process to come up with solutions to meet their architectural requirements. Together with Rondo’s technical services engineers many solutions were found such as how to satisfy a requirement for the many free-standing walls to be constructed without using structural steel.
