Using our MAXIframe External Wall Framing System, we were able to provide a full design specification for the entire external façade that met wind load requirements, also providing one stud wall to accommodate both internal and external linings.

Fogarty Bros, who are the main commercial plasters in Bundaberg for over 15 years, were contracted to install the internal and external linings. Due to the region’s conditions, external wall designs for cyclonic conditions were needed, pre-construction meetings were needed to discuss benefits and limitations. The builder used extra structural steel where needed and custom suit windows to fit the Rondo design.

Designed by SAOTA in association with TKD Architects, Double Bay House overlooks Sydney’s world famous harbour and uses both Click-on Battens and Tongue & Groove Cladding to create amazing timber features.
The incredible batten ceiling spanning the internal to external spaces, creates a seamless series of intersecting planes. Tongue & Groove Cladding is used to create linear textures with a natural look throughout.

The surface colour finish was applied onsite to the grey compressed fibre cement cladding soffits to match in with the internal timber used in the project.OutcomeThe design required a space that was inviting and inspiring to students allowing them to remain in touch with the outside as well as being environmentally friendly. Our long-life ECOTONE finish to cladding replicating natural wood delivered in both design and sustainability. This project also went on to win a commendation award for Learning Environments Australasia Category 2: New Construction / New Individual Facility (or Facilities) Over $8m.TestimonialThe challenge of incorporating feature timber soffits within a bushfire zone was solved by the use of ECOTONE over non-combustible fibre cement sheeting. The project required both Seismic design for the ceilings and special wind designs for the external framing.

Ian's approach was spread across three main areas: refresh the old, remove the existing extension and park a new rectangular, two storey box. The benefit of having custom lengths sped up installation and also reduced wastage. Approximately 10,000 custom made studs were used to complete the project. Rondo also provided products used for internal lining and ceilings. During the construction stage supplying products to the site at the correct time for crane lifts was essential to the success of the project. Rondo and CSR worked in conjunction with Cree8 to ensure this happened by conducting regular site visits.
