Rondo has provided onsite design assistance for the $66m project, supporting the design and construct environment. The project required the application of seismic solutions and Rondo has worked closely with contractor, Laser Linings to deliver the desired result.

Construction has concluded on the redevelopment of the ‘old Harris Scarfe’ site at Rundle Mall in Adelaide. The renovations seek to re-energise the area but remain committed to preserve Adelaide’s most cherished department store. Four floors of retail space have had the base built by Interior Projects who have been a valued Rondo customer since 1988. Rondo provided essential technical expertise and design solutions for the fire walls and security mesh between tenancies.

Built by Mossop Construction & Interiors, the $50m hall is located on campus at Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD. The Great Hall, dubbed as a ‘one-stop shop’, will not only benefit University students and staff, but also the local community as it features a sports complex and swimming pool. Rondo were approached to provide designs for full seismic requirements and worked with Ceiling & Wall Contractors Adelaide.

The KEYLOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System, Steel Stud and Track Wall Framing System, and XPRESS Drywall Grid Ceiling System have been integrated throughout the project. Rondo’s long-term relationship with Ceiling & Wall Contractors enables the project to run smoothly and the onsite coordination is exemplary.

Rondo Steel Stud Drywall Framing System will be used in the construction of the Dubai International Airport - Concourse 4 project.

The initial project had been executed in August 2017. Customising the building with KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling System, particularly Rondo 155 Furring Chanel which is 48mm wide, and required perforated plasterboard to be attached. Bulkheads, soffit areas and external walls were designed by the Rondo Engineering team.

Rondo’s Seismic products within each system included DUO Perimeter Trim Sliding Clip (Rondo 850), KEY-LOCK TCR Seismic Joiner (Rondo 865) and Seismic plenum braces. With the KEY-LOCK Seismic Concealed Ceiling System, two-side fixed, free wall perimeter connections and Rondo 141 Wall Track (1.15BMT to suit 129 Furring Channel) was used.

The new Royal Adelaide Hospital (newRAH) is a significant project for Rondo, with our Engineering team providing extensive design support and developing innovative system solutions for over two and a half years prior to the commencement of construction. Now with construction underway, Rondo has continued to play a major role, supporting site contractor, Brighton Australia, with the design and manufacture of products that meet the projects’ ‘Category 4’ design requirements, which includes specifications for Seismic designs.

Termi Home & Commercial (SA) were proud to be a part of the historic Norwood Oval Redevelopment project in Adelaide, South Australia. As one of the most iconic football grounds in Adelaide only a non chemical termite management solution would do. We designed and installed the Termimesh System keeping in mind both the historical significance and the new facilities.The suitability of the Termimesh system for this project is based on its flexibility, which was necessary due to complex external geometry of the new construction and integration with the existing buildings. This presented challenges in performing remedial work. For example the Sir Edwin Smith Grandstand is heritage listed meaning minimal work was allowed to the external façade. This is where the strength of our termite management system lies. It can be customised for each individual project. Our estimating and design team will work alongside the architect, marking up plans and explaining how the system is applied to the design. Which in the case of the Norwood Oval was extremely important. Waterproofing both the internals and roof of the building, the builder demanded warranties to match the project requirements and to deliver a quality finish demanded of this high profile project.To streamline this project, availability of stock and ease of application were key product requirements needed from the project, which Tremco were tasked with delivering.Tremco SolutionVulkem H2 Plus, Vulkem NEM, Tremflex50, Vulkem 951Hydraseal partnered with Tremco for a few reasons, primarily trust built up through a longstanding relationship provided the support necessary for the key for the success in this project.The versatility of Vulkem NEM being able to be used for internal wet areas, in conjunction with Vulkem H2, as well as for outdoor areas under Vulkem 951 NF allowed for fast and consistent application of waterproofing on the project, given the tight time frames, all backed with long warranties to match product performance.The combination of Vulkem NEM, Vulkem 951 NF and Vulkem H2 provided the warranties demanded by the builder which resulted in both Builder, and Applicator very satisfied with the job. 

The brand new state-of-the-art $177 million Brisbane International Cruise Terminal was completed in mid-2020 and will serve as a gateway for the Queensland tourismsector. The 9,300m² terminal was designed by Arkhefield in collaboration with Arup will provide visitors with a world class experience.The public spaces including the internal walkways, communal areas and departure lounge featured 1,500m² of Flowcoat Terrosso in four bespoke colour combinations.The decorative resin-based flooring system was chosen to provide a decorative, seamless flooring system that would not only create a luxurious and welcome environment, but withstand the expected foot traffic.A further 1,200m² of Deckshield ID was applied to the foot bridge, providing passengers with a slip resistant and safe surface as they board or disembark some of the biggest cruise ships in the world.Tremco CPG Australia’s portfolio of industry leading products provided not just a flooring solution for the world-glass tourism facility. In addition to the Flowcreteflooring systems, Tremco CPG Australia also provided the structural glazing silicone Proglaze II to a total of 218 glass panels.

Wellington Airport previously used warm hand dryers and paper towels. Their motivations for changing hand drying method were to find a more environmentally sustainable form of hand drying, also wanting to avoid the slip hazard that can result from water on the floor. Project Architect, Katherine Skipper explains "The Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry provided the perfect solution for the problems they were having with water on the floor and constant restocking of paper towels."

Timber features were used throughout the project, with Decortech acoustic panels used to clad both internal and external ceilings. Rondo, in collaboration with BVT Engineering was engaged to provide design assistance for all external soffits/ceilings, internal walls and ceiling framing.

Designed by Woods Bagot Pty Ltd and built by Lend Lease Group, BCG manufactured curved heat strengthened laminated glass panels for the feature stair to the entry lobby of the first completed commercial tower at Barangaroo – International Towers Sydney (ITS) 2. Working closely with Woods Bagot Architects and fabricators F & D Normoyle Engineering, BCG assisted with the fine tuning of the detail design. BCG’s precision bending and laminating processes provided the quality of finish and timely supply required to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The tower corridors to the hotel rooms followed a slight curve and the Rondo Technical Services Team were engaged to provide many engineered designs for both internal and external wall framings, as well as internal ceilings and external soffit framings. This included Stud & Track, MAXIframe External Wall Framing System, EXANGLE Finishing Sections and PANTHER Access Panels, all needed to meet the detail required throughout the tower and podium levels.

Rondo worked closely with Wadsworth Contracting providing KEY-LOCK Concealed Ceiling Systems, Panther Access Panels, plastering beads as well as external 92mm framing, soffit framing, internal 76 & 64mm wall framing.

Rondo provided Red Oak Contracts Pty Ltd with the external wall, soffit and bulkhead designs which were submitted to BADGE and Hames Sharley Architects for approval. Rondo’s technical team highlight the quality of workmanship on this project, especially when comparing the designs to the finished installation. The stock was supplied on time and accurate with Rondo working with all parties throughout this project which is a credit to all involved.

Rondo supported Maxcon Pty Ltd through contractor L&Y Commercial for this project incorporating two 26 and 36 story residential towers of 551 apartments, an Art Series Hotel with 90 rooms, retail spaces and serviced offices. Due to the large-scale nature of the build, our customer was very satisfied with Rondo’s ability to provide quick turnaround times for crane lifts as well as our efficient and effective operation of installation and delivery of goods on site, on time.

IOI City Mall is the biggest shopping mall in Malaysia at 1.35 million square feet, incorporating Rondo Drywall Framing for the internal wall partitions. This mall comes together with 2 tower office blocks and one hotel which will be completed in stages.

Using Stud & Track and KEY-LOCK, Rondo was responsible for providing design support to Contractor, Amicus Constructions as well as onsite advice. While Rondo provided internal and external product, it was the external use of Stud & Track that stole the show.

Rondo assisted Brett Watson Contracting in providing the featured elliptic curved detail that made the eye catching internal ceiling layout possible. Rondo supplied our KEY-LOCK Concealed Ceiling System to create the coffered ceiling treatments in the main atrium.

Rondo’s 92mm Steel Stud and Track system was selected for all internal works as it best meets all the requirements implemented by Warren and Mahoney, lead architects for this project. Factors such as spans, acoustics, loads, future proofing and supply were all considered during the initial design period.
