This two-year, $100 million project was undertaken by builders Built, subcontractors Expoconti, and Bruce Henderson Architects for developers Hengyi. Using our MAXIframe External Wall Framing System, we were able to provide a full design specification for the entire external façade that met wind load requirements, also providing one stud wall to accommodate both internal and external linings.

The Gateway building In Sydney’s Circular Quay is Australia’s first office tower to use fully integrated touchless 3D fingerprint scanning to allow authorised office workers and guests into the building. The building’s new entrance involves a complex integration of security and technology experts, including Boon Edam, Schindler Lifts, Honeywell and IDEMIA (the manufacturers of MorphoWave fingerprint scanning technology). The solution had to work seamlessly to enhance the user experience and building security for tenants and visitors at the 46-storey landmark building in Sydney’s CBD, owned by Dexus Wholesale Property Fund. Boon Edam delivered the entrance security solution, with Lifeline Speedlane Swing speed gates that are the slimmest in the market, which added to the aesthetics, and helped with design considerations within the width of the lift lobbies. Rising Demand by Tenants for Increased Protection The upgrade project required an entrance security system that incorporated sophisticated security yet kept an aesthetically pleasing and unobtrusive lobby. The ideal solution was found by integrating Boon Edam speed gates, MorphoWave fingerprint scanners mounted on a coordinating pedestal (the Lifeline Boost), Schindler Lift destination control and Honeywell access control technology. This was a response to increasing demands by building occupants to improve the entry security measures to better cater for the protection of employees, visitors and valuable data. A Complex, yet Perfect Orchestration Gateway’s access solution includes a bank of sleek and stylish security speed gates (Boon Edam’s Lifeline Speedlane Swing), which are seamlessly integrated with touchless and intelligent elevator destination control (Schindler Port’s PORT 4 mini) and security access via a biometric fingerprint scanning (IDEMIA’s MorphoWave) – all at one point, enabling quick, accurate and seamless entry to secured areas. These technologies are all controlled by Honeywell’s access control system. Project ceiling contractor, Built Environs, has an almost two decade relationship with Rondo and this partnership, along with project architects Hassell & Cox, allowed all parties to work together efficiently in order to find solutions for any design obstacles that occurred during construction.

Located in Fortitude Valley in the heart of Brisbane. Builder, Multiplex began Stage 1 of this $200m project in May 2015 and completed it in July this year. Subcontractor, Precision Interior Walls & Ceilings enlisted Rondo’s expertise in designing the internal ceilings and partitions, external walls and soffit framing. Designed by Architect’s Elenberg Fraser, Stage 1 of the development consisted of 32 levels with 910 luxury apartments sprawled across two towers. This will eventually form part of three residential towers incorporating ground floor retail areas, cafés, restaurants and over 1000 apartments in total.

Buildup Interior carried out construction of the internal fit out packages - Rondo Steel Stud Walls and Ceilings in July 2018 that had been designed with Kelly Zammit. Buildup Interior chose to use Rondo over competitive brands due to a long standing relationship with, and understanding of its service offering.

Rondo stands proud being the site-wide supplier for drywalls throughout the City of Dreams. The Rondo Malaysia team has worked very hard to service this project by arranging and loading 35 containers a month, replying to dozens of technical inquiries a week and running the factory 24 hours a day to ensure that they have the coils to keep the machines running.

To set the internal aesthetics apart from other similar projects being built in Brisbane, Wood Marsh Architects designed some jaw-dropping gold ribbon ceilings that hover above the modern curved walls, which elegantly wrap around the lobby floor. In saying this, achieving perfection is not a simple task and none of this could have been accomplished without Rondo’s technical designs and NAC’s expertise in making them come to life.

The project includes the upgrade of Brisbane Showgrounds including the recently completed state-of-the-art Royal International Convention Centre, Plaza and Porte-Cochere together with 5.5 hectares of developments comprising of The Green and The Yards Residential Apartments, Kings Gate Commercial Precinct and the creation of King Street which will include a new shopping and dining strip.

Working beside Doig Architecture, Rondo provided expert design and technical advice particularly with the high internal walls. Regular on-site inspections ensured products were installed to specification and delivered on time. Rondo’s main focus has been to complete 17 levels of one of the five office towers, of which two levels are for shops and a café. With the majority of the 70,000 lineal metres of product being Rondo DUO Exposed Grid System, Rondo continues to provide technical support for the project through weekly site visits.

The hotel and casino will include a luxury hotel, gaming areas, dining, and retail and convention facilities along with numerous special attractions. Rondo provided this project with all the Drywall Steel Stud Partition Systems for the podium, gaming areas and the hotel tower. Included in the plan were also specially designed and supplied maintenance WALK–ABOUT Trafficable Ceiling Systems as per the project requirements.

The $11.3 million dollar renovation of Lambton Square required Rondo product throughout including our Key-Lock Concealed Ceiling System, Steel Stud Wall framing system and various other Rondo components for the fixing of plasterboard and feature panels.

Rondo has supplied an external soffit ceiling frame for the Dubai Metro Station project. The Green Line of the Dubai Metro is the second Dubai Metro light rail line in Dubai. The route starts in Al Ghusais, and runs along Al Nahda Rd and Salahuddin Rd above ground. The Green line runs through Deira and Bur Dubai and generally runs parallel to Dubai Creek.

Inspired by water droplets in the wild, the POD Pavilion showcases the new sustainable urban development located in Petaling Jaya Commercial City, west of Kuala Lumpur. Designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates in collaboration with Studio Nicoletti Associati (Italy), the POD Pavilion is now PJCC’s corporate office and sales gallery. Rondo provided both product and design assistance to the project, which required a significant amount of input because of its unique elliptical design.

Ocean Keys is a major shopping destination in Clarkson, one of Perth’s new fast growing suburbs. This $100 million expansion completed in October 2014 included the addition of retail and fresh food stores and new residential apartments. The shopping complex is now 65% larger with a total floor space of 35,000m². Rondo supplied Key- Lock Concealed Ceiling System and steel framing for the extensive plasterboard soffits and bulkheads on the project.

Regular onsite inspections in conjunction with the contractor Arc Plaster helped us to forecast any further products required for the project and ensure the project was delivered smoothly.

The $200 million Lend Lease Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre development opened in November 2014, making it the largest shopping destination in Western Australia. Contractors C & L Ceilings in conjunction with Rondo’s Technical Services Team designed pre-fabricated sections that could be built off-site and then transported to site complete, reducing installation costs and time delays.

Rondo Technical Representative Tino Cucinotta, worked closely with the 2DG team – and assisted with the supply of QUIET STUD Acoustic Wall System, Stud & Track and Finishing Sections, whilst Rondo’s newly released XPRESS Drywall Grid Ceiling System was due to arrive, ensuring the project could continue efficiently.

Working alongside builders JAXON Constructions, Hassell Architects and ANWEST Constructions, Rondo managed to provide specifications necessary for the position of the project which is subject to significant external wind loadings.

Expoconti pride themselves on using quality products from reputable suppliers and have been a Rondo customer for over 20 years. For this particular project, Rondo had been engaged to supply Steel Stud & Track and KEY-LOCK Concealed Ceiling System for the project which is exposed to high winds due to its location and height.

Rondo has been a major asset to the project providing reputable advice, technical design solutions and fortnightly inspections, ensuring the development is on track and our systems are installed correctly. Our Technical Services Team has supported Rondo Victoria in assisting project architects Bates Smart Architects and Silver Thomas Hanley and builder Lend Lease improve comprehensive designs for all internal walls and ceilings for the project.

Working closely with SA Master Plaster as the internal drywall contractor Rondo has supplied 64 & 92mm x 0.70BMT and 92mm x 1.15BMT wall studs for the internal wall framing with over 1,000 studs being required per floor. Also the project is utilising Rondo KEY-LOCK concealed plasterboard framing for ceilings and over 2,000m2 of the external Rondo MAXIframe wall system.

Wall types can vary significantly on such a large project, and the Rondo team were required to design a framing system solution that would be suitable for the vast majority of the project. Due to large wall heights to the ballroom areas, Rondo MAXIJamb members were required and specific Rondo engineered design detail was provided for bathroom wall locations, where the Rondo framing was to support stone linings.

Currently, Quest is on an aggressive expansion drive throughout Australia, with seven projects to be completed over the next 12 months. Specifically, the freshly completed Quest on Franklin in Central Adelaide of which, Rondo has provided over 200,000l/m worth of product. Working alongside Kyren Group, Ceiling Express and Cheesman Architects, Rondo delivered frequent technical design support, as well as stock level forecasting which was imperative to control the crane lifts.

The benefit of having custom lengths sped up installation and also reduced wastage. Approximately 10,000 custom made studs were used to complete the project. Rondo also provided products used for internal lining and ceilings. During the construction stage supplying products to the site at the correct time for crane lifts was essential to the success of the project. Rondo and CSR worked in conjunction with Cree8 to ensure this happened by conducting regular site visits.

Rondo incorporated Steel Stud and Track, specifically 64mm track sections along with KEY-LOCK Suspended ceiling systems to perfect the final look of the complex.

The curved suspended ceilings, that features wavy ‘skylights’ meant the Top Cross Rail component had to be made to a radius that met the architectural specification. This, in turn required the expertise of the Rondo Technical Services Team to ensure the wave, ‘skylight’ feature (using KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling components) would actually work. Not only that, the Rondo Team also had to adhere to strict deadlines to ensure the material could be supplied to the project on time.

The project was subject to wind loading up to 2.8kPa ultimate and 1.9kPa serviceability. Our technical designs specified wall and ceiling systems, as well as complementary accessories to be supplied to the project. Being able to provide tailored designs within a tight deadline was crucial to the project.

The tower corridors to the hotel rooms followed a slight curve and the Rondo Technical Services Team were engaged to provide many engineered designs for both internal and external wall framings, as well as internal ceilings and external soffit framings. This included Stud & Track, MAXIframe External Wall Framing System, EXANGLE Finishing Sections and PANTHER Access Panels, all needed to meet the detail required throughout the tower and podium levels.

The project was developed thanks to the assistance of builders BGC Construction, ceilings and walls M2 Contracting and distributors Perth Plasterboard Centre. Local supply chain efforts have proven this project to be a success with on-time delivery, reliability, excellent customer service and the ease of installation.

The Rondo team worked with the architect and builder to overcome the specific fire curtain wall design requirement for the lobby walls, ceiling and bulkhead. Rondo benefited the project through multiple design options and regular site inspections which supported both the contractor and the builder.

Occupying a 2134m2 block of premium land, Leopold residential apartments is one of the newest commercial/residential developments in Melbourne’s residential and business district. The project involved the internal demolition of existing commercial fit out, the construction of an additional six levels and the fit-out of 174 residential apartments as well as four office tenancies. The works undertaken comprised of a new wall facade, the attachment of 97 new balconies to the existing structure, and installation of a structural steel transfer level with lightweight floor system (Powerscope).

Working with the site contractor, Expoconti, Rondo supplied products for the project, provided design work, and conducted weekly site inspections. Rondo’s technical assistance allowed for the designs to be simplified, which in turn provided a more cost effective approach.
